What is an Inductor?
Symbol of an inductor is given by
How Does Inductors work?
When the current flows through the coil ,The energy is stored in the form of magnetic field and as the current flowing through the inductor changes ,The time varying magnetic field induces a voltage in the conductor ,according to Faraday's law of electro magnetic induction which opposes the change in current.
Inductance
SI Unit of Inductance is Henry(H).
Induced emf is given By
L → inductance is Henry
di/dt → rate of change of current
Inductance depends on no.of turns of the coil, permeability of the core material and size of the core.
Lenz's Law
Inductors are used in various applications of electronics .
1. They are used in analog circuits and signal processing.
2. Inductors are used as energy storage devices in SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) to produce DC current.
3. Inductors are used essentially in Transformers .
4. They are used in various types of filters in communication equipment.
